NZ On Air are thrilled to announce the results of our ninth New Music Pasifika focus round for single-based funding – supporting the recording, video, and promotion costs of new songs from Pasifika artists.

Since the fund launched in 2019, NZ On Air has been able to fund 214 New Music Pasifika songs from a total of 644 applications across nine New Music Pasifika funding rounds.

Within our March New Music Pasifika round we received 71 eligible applications and, after the help of our esteemed panel, we will be investing up to $11,000 (including the new mandatory 10% Artist Creation Fee) in 21 songs from local artists to be released in the coming months.

From the 21 songs, there are twelve first-time NZ On Air funding recipients, with a few artists who have previously been developed via our New Music Development funding stream. We are also pleased to support several songs featuring the use of Pasifika languages. These songs help reflect the many voices and faces of Aotearoa, adding to the vibrant cultural mix of music local audiences can experience.

The quality of music submissions continues to be of an incredibly high calibre and we thank this month’s judging panel for their hard work and considerable expertise in deciding upon the final results.
