CELEBRATING PACIFIC MUSIC: S_PACIFIC MUSIC AWARDS

7 April 2009

The 2009 S_ Pacific Music Awards, will be held on Saturday 23 May, at the TelstraClear Pacific venue in Manukau City. Organised by the Pacific Music Awards Trust, these awards were created in 2005 to celebrate Pacific artists and Pacific music.

The entered award categories for 2009 are:

Best Pacific Group
Best Pacific Gospel Album
Best Pacific Urban Artist
Best Pacific Female Artist
Best Pacific Male Artist
Best Pacific Song
Best Pacific Music Album

Finalists for these categories will be announced on Thursday 16 April, at a function hosted by His Worship Mayor Len Brown and Manukau City Council.

Three further awards are presented at the S_ Pacific Music Awards, which are the Phillip Fuemana Award for an upcoming artist, Lifetime Achievement Award and the People’s Choice Award. All finalists from the entered categories are eligible for the People’s Choice Award, with the winner determined by public vote. (voting through our website)

2009 will be the fifth year for the awards and the Trust is looking to mark this special milestone. The ceremony for the S_ Pacific Music Awards allows the celebration of each of the finalists and winners, along with the opportunity to showcase other performers who perform live on the night. Tickets for the awards will be on sale via TicketDirect, in late April.
