We have a truckload of gigs coming at you this month...BOOM!
JJSTHIS FRIDAY: PARNELL AUCKLAND
Juice bar is kicking off their NZ Music Month celebrations with a gig that combines two well loved bands from the LOOP stable - Coast and The Midnights plus Christchurch newcomers, Soulsystem this Friday 6 May.
To top things off, if you're an earlybird and get there before 10pm, entry is FREE!
With Coast providing their renowned dubbed out funky grooves, The Midnights dishing up a set of raw reggae gems and Soulsystem heating things up with their blend of roots, dub and funk, you know it's going to be a good night!
Both LOOP bands have been noticeably absent from Auckland's local live scene of late - The Midnights have been recording some new material and Coast have been playing support slots for the likes of Santana - so this is definitely a good opportunity to catch them while you can.
Likewise, seeing as it's Soulsystem's debut appearance in Auckland, it's a rare opportunity to witness why they're touted as an up-and-coming act to be reckoned with.

The Karlmarx Project by Karlmarx (Isaac and Mark McNeil) is packed with glitchy vintage synths and confounds the space and time continuum, offering up a soundtrack to a sci fi movie never made.
The album is also the first of LOOP's "Limited Edition Release Range", a group of special releases, which are individually hand numbered and strictly limited to 100 copies per issue. Stocked by LOOPShop (online), Conch (Auckland) and Slow Boat (Wellington) and selling like hot cakes, these babies are seriously exclusive!

BRO...WITNESS THE FITNESS!
The bros are hitting the big smoke to re-launch The Khuja Lounge in a stylish kind of way this Saturday 21 May. Witness the fitness of AHoriBuzz and The Nudge – New Zealand’s funk, blues and psychedelic future.
AHoriBuzz is the solo project and brainchild of the infamous Aaron Tokona (Weta, Cairo Knife Fight) and features well-known drummer, Nick Gaffney (also Cairo Knife Fight) and bassist, Hori. They deliver tasty jams and straight up ninja funk like nobody’s business.
The Nudge are coming at you off the back of touring with and supporting Little Bushman and The Black Seeds, plus recording their debut album at The Surgery in Wellington. They’re pretty much a straight up, kickass psychedelic swampy blues trio.

standing in silenceIT'S ALL A BIT MERCURIOUS...
Rhian Sheehan's ephemeral, multi-media masterpiece, Standing In Silence is coming to Auckland on Saturday 28 May.
It sees a unique combination of contemporary, classical and electronic musicans - including members of The Woolshed Sessions, Rhombus, Strike and the NZSO - playing alongside a stunning visual backdrop, filmed around the world.
And to celebrate the breath-taking and critically-acclaimed performance, KiwiFM is getting a bit "Mecurious" if you will...
Starting next week, they're giving you the chance to win a VIP Standing In Silence Package. Not only, does it include a double pass to the show at The Mercury Theatre, a few drinks on the night and Rhian Sheehan's back catalogue on LOOP; but they're upping the "Merc" level and including a night's accom at the Mercure Auckland Windsor on Sat 28th!
All you have to do is listen out for a Standing In Silence track on KiwiFM and when you hear one, call the studio to get into the draw.
If last year's exclusive Welli show is anything to go by, this show is going to stun you to silence - don't miss out!
Check out the beautiful track "Part 3" here.
