Real Groove + NZ Music Month 2010

9 April 2010

In May, Real Groove features four unique covers that represent the full spectrum of New Zealand sounds, fronted by Crowded House, Kidz In Space, Anika Moa and Die! Die! Die! – fans of New Zealand music can pick the cover featuring their favourite artist or collect the whole series. As well as these cover stories which feature four exclusive photo shoots, Real Groove gets a facelift courtesy of art director Sara Black. Duncan Greive takes a critical look at NZ On Air and its funding of New Zealand music, Scribe and P-Money go one-on-one as Scribe interviews his producer about his new album Everything. The inaugural Taite Music Prize winner Lawrence Arabia writes a love letter to his ‘All Time Fave’ New Zealand album – Connan Mockasin’s Please Turn Me Into the Snat – and we review Lawrence Arabia’s show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. David Dallas reviews the latest games, Nick Bollinger writes about a homegrown seven-inch from his record collection for ‘Singles Going Steady’, and we launch Groove Gear, a brand new component to Real Groove which showcases and reviews the gadgets that you need to enjoy the music, movies, games and culture that you love. We’ll also feature the fourth instalment of Awesome Feeling in the May issue of Real Groove, a genre-hopping compilation of brand new sounds from fresh new musical talent from these shores. There will be point-of-sale posters for the May issue of Real Groove, and Real Groove editor Sam Wicks will be making media appearances on C4 Select Live, Juice TV’s Transmission, The Edge, bFM and George FM Breakfast to talk about the issue. The all-New Zealand May issue of Real Groove is out Monday 3 May. Viva La New Zealand Music Month!
