Stalwart Canterbury music venue the Dux de Lux is one of the many Christchurch music businesses that have been seriously affected by the earthquake on 22 February.
The Dux has been supporting and promoting local music for an outstanding 30 years and is known by many as the spiritual home of Christchurch music. Based in the Arts Centre, the venue itself has been closed until further notice.
According to the owners independent structural engineers reports, as the Dux venue has been constructed quite differently to other parts of the Arts Centre the Dux building has suffered much less damage and could be repaired and safely reopened in a relatively short timeframe. The Dux is encouraging it's supporters and patrons to sign an online petition that will be presented to the Arts Centre Trust Board.
The petition is to show support for the Dux’s intention to reopen as soon as permissible, and as soon as repairs can be completed.
