After impressing live and YouTube audiences with his extensive selection of live looping covers for a couple of years, talented multi-instrumentalist and Mahurangi College student Seven Zen has now composed, arranged, played and produced his debut release of original material.
The 4 tracks on “Dark as life” critically examine the concept of freedom and some of the more dysfunctional developments in our society from the perspective of a Kiwi teen . A more detailed rundown of the album here
Seven Zen (aka. Riley Popham) has been included on the past 2 year’s ”Who Loves Who” compilations, including in 2017 with a cover of “Expecting to Fly” (Headless Chickens). He has made the compilation for a 3rd year in a row in 2018. Those who have seen him perform will recognize some of his wide-ranging influences in his material.
