Kiwi FM is jubilantly overjoyed to announce that “31 Bands In A Box” will be returning for May, 2010.
This is the 3rd year in the successful series and is Kiwi’s answer to the question “what can a station that already plays 100% New Zealand music do for Music Month?”
“31 Bands In A Box” is a promise to have at least one act playing live-to-air in the (box-like) Kiwi FM studio for each of the thirty-one days of Music Month. However in both previous years the number has exceeded 31 (2008 = 45, 2009 = 46) and the list of acts that have participated include – Autozamm, The Bads, Batucada Sound Machine, Cornerstone Roots, Chris Knox, Clap Clap Riot, dDub, David Kilgour and Sam Hunt, Flip Grater, Minuit, Moana Maniapoto, Motocade, Olmecha Supreme, Opshop, The Phoenix Foundation, PNC, Pluto, Pitch Black, The Ruby Suns, Sam Flynn-Scott, Tahuna Breaks and the list goes on…
As with previous years, live footage will again be an integral part of 31 Bands. Each act will be filmed during their performance and the video will then be uploaded for the viewing publics’ pleasure. In total we have now had over 79,000 views to the videos of 08/09. You can check them out for yourself at www.kiwifm.co.nz on the dedicated 31 Bands In A Box Page, or simply search Kiwi FM in Youtube.
Live performances are one of the most exciting things in Kiwi FM’s repertoire. Having access to ALL of the artist we play on a day to day basis is the thing that separates us from the rest of the noise being made out there in radio land and we are very proud of it. That is why we choose to put it on a pedestal during the month of May.
