‘Be’ is a chilled guitar-rock groove that builds into a proper rock closing by way of some big choruses, melodic guitar noodlings, massive drums and a healthy dose of xylophone.

‘Be’ is a simple ode to 1:1 communication that began with FINDMYKEYS’ songwriter/ guitarist Tom having a go at learning drums, which led to the song’s opening beat (and little more). After adding the song’s signature guitar hook, a topline melody and chords below, he invited his multi-talented mates to contribute to a full-band arrangement. The bass solo was kindly salvaged from another demo that otherwise showed zero promise, and the chorus was later added when a friend noted that it didn’t have one. The song was produced and mastered @ ShowPony in Auckland.

The single’s launch is getting early airplay on Radio Active FM, Radio Control and Most FM. FINDMYKEYS’ first single ‘Time’ had strong airplay on several radio stations, peaking at #23 in the NZ Alternative Radio charts. ‘Be’ is a departure from the more intense sound of the first single, with their heavier rock aesthetic inevitably resuming in future singles over the year ahead.

FINDMYKEYS is an Ōtautahi rock band featuring local musicians Tom, Dave and Hadley. According to the insightful bots at Viberate.com their sound is defined by “Sharp guitar tones, intense rhythms, and poignant lyrics that explore the depths of human emotion”. Their individual influences vary between various rock and pop genres, with a collective love of melody being the common ground.

The group is looking to complete an EP and enjoy the ride along the way as a part of Aoteaora’s alternative music scene.
