For our first Video of the Day to kick off New Zealand Music Month, our good friends at BIG FAN TONES have brought you a snippet of one of Aotearoa’s hottest hip hop collectives: 0800.

How does 0800 set the TONE? Chemistry. It’s the invisible thread that binds them—a genuine camaraderie that existed before the music. Watch closely during the performance: the way they interact, share energy and the unspoken cues. It’s a rare and special dynamic—the kind that leaves an indelible mark and one you want to be part of.

0800 is a Hip Hop Collective from Auckland, New Zealand, consisting of rappers, producers, and visual artists. The group is multicultural, comprising members of African, Mexican, Fijian, and Pakeha descent, and is known for its genre-defying style, blending elements of Hip Hop, Pop, and R&B.

Hosting 0800 was both a pleasure and honor. We were greeted by a brotherhood of talent that came to set ready, enthused and delivered a high-quality performance.

With the release of their debut single ‘DONDE‘, the group quickly gained popularity in AU, NZ, and the US, amassing over 2.5 million streams on Spotify alone. The single reached Number 11 on the NZ Hot Singles Chart and was featured on Spotify’s “Alternative Hip Hop” and “Fresh Finds” US playlists, as well as “New Music Friday AU/NZ.”

As their following grows and shows continue to sell out, 0800 Collective embeds their style and sound into New Zealand’s musical fabric. They’re not just a group to watch; they’re a vibe to get amongst.
