Week 5
Ben Chavasse is back for NZ Music Month, celebrating the release of his first single of 2026. Following on from the 2025 debut album 'Boxing', Chavasse has continued innovating within the indie folk genre. The show will feature Chavasse's band and a mix of unreleased tracks and songs from the album with Evie Bamford supporting.
Ben Chavasse is a singer-songwriter based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, New Zealand. His lyric-forward approach embraces the indie-folk genre, influenced by artists like Angel Olsen, Alex G, Japanese Breakfast, and Tiny Ruins, while incorporating elements of rock, punk, and jazz. He explores themes of adolescence, mental health, and reconciliation through an introspective, reflective and vulnerable lens.
Evie Bamford is a guitarist, clarinettist, vocalist and songwriter from Tāmaki Makaurau. Drawing on a background in jazz and classical music, she creates indie rock that pairs colourful, textured instrumentation with honest lyricism. Weaving cello and clarinet, her latest single ‘Through the Day’ went to #1 on the 95bFM Top Ten and #2 on the nationwide SRN Top Ten.
