Week 4
Singer-songwriter Jan Hellriegel rose to prominence in Dunedin with all-woman band Cassandra's Ears before moving to Auckland and going solo in the 1990s. She has recorded four studio albums and won numerous awards. In 2015 she established Songbroker - an "artist-friendly" music publishing company. After the success of her acclaimed 2019 Sportsman of the Year album, book and tour, Jan returns with If Not Now, When?... a bold new live show touring New Zealand. Blending piano-driven songs, sharp humour, personal stories and a touch of theatrical flair, the show is a full entertainment experience. Alongside favourites from across her career, Hellriegel will unveil a brand-new creative project- one she promises is an even bigger surprise than Sportsman. “Piano was my first instrument,” she says. “I’ve wanted to do a show like this since I was a kid. If not now… when?” Support: Singer songwriter Dan Sharp. His single release, ‘Kindle and Coal’ (500,000+ Spotify streams) displays Dan’s ability to deliver impact and vulnerability along the lines of modern internationals Lewis Capaldi and Dermot Kennedy, while maintaining his Springsteen-esque timelessness. Dan has toured internationally and performed with Dave Dobbyn, Hollie Smith, Tiki Taane and Ciaran McMeeken.
