Reid+Wolken+Sanson+Texture Time

Compelling sonic sketches and groove-laden live improvisations celebrating the digital release of the "Trident House Sessions" album, recorded live last year with Reid+Wolken x Texture Time, and the start of Aotearoa's NZ Music Month!

Culled from an epic Jazz Loft live performance at Dunedin's intimate under-the-radar Trident House space in May 2025, Trident House Sessions: Sketches in Real Time is a collection of compelling improvised sonic sketches which takes listeners on a journey through hypnotic post-jazz sonic architecture, wonky grooves, and reflective downtempo zones.

Dunedin-based Texture Time (Peter Claman - trombone, electronics) samples, loops and layers the improvised offerings of Karin Reid (voice, kalimba, percussion) and Alex Wolken (electric guitar) in real time, and mostly in front of a live audience (the album also features one track drawn from rehearsals, and a buyers only bonus track of the same nature)

For this event, Peter Claman along with Matt Sanson (double bass, pedals, piano) joins forces with the contemporary hypno-jazz/ jazz noir duo Reid+Wolken for an evening of in-the-moment improvisational creations. REID+WOLKEN+SANSON+TEXTURE TIME will walk the fine line between the edgy and transcendental in this explorative simultaneous musical concoction. Come join!

ABOUT
REID+WOLKEN are an Ōtepoti Dunedin-based duo active since late 2019, honing a distinctive sound that blends the influence of modal jazz and avant-leaning harmony with moody atmospheres, textures and minimal grooves creating a unique and contemporary sonic world.
KARIN REID is a vocalist and song maker noted for the hypnotic and compelling qualities of her sultry and ethereal voice and her rich vocal colourings and explorations. Karin has also sung with many jazz musicians around New Zealand and the UK.
ALEX WOLKEN is a guitarist and composer. As a guitarist his electric and nylon string acoustic playing blends modern jazz harmony with elements of blues, dark psychedelia and free improvisation. Alex also played with alt-jazz psych duo Celluloid Bikers and has played with many jazz and improvising musicians in Dunedin.
MATT SANSON is a multi-instrumental improvising musician from the Blueskin Bay community and plays double bass in "The Blithenians" (formerly "Blimey!") - an improvising multi-instrumental group; "Samurai Cowboys" an improvised soundscape/world music duo; "Dougie and The Moonrocks" - a folk band, and occasionally "Bad JuJu"- a beer drinking band with a singing problem! Matt will bring his eclectic musical ear to weave and sculpt a special sonic vibe at this collaborative event!
PETER CLAMAN (TEXTURE TIME) is a busy and sought after trombonist who plays with Piecemeal an instrumental jazz group with elements of “math-rock” and noise and is a creator of the TEXTURE TIME project that mashes tech with live instruments, which sonically drifts through a textural weave of strings, horns and electronics https://texturetime.bandcamp.com/album/thursday Peter also plays in the Dunedin City Jazz Orchestra, the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra, the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra, Koile and Loose & Colourful among other popular music outfits.
