Drax Project fly Higher with Air New Zealand

Multi-award-winning Kiwi band, Drax Project, have partnered with one of New Zealand’s most iconic brands; Air New Zealand, to recreate an iconic track exclusively for the airline.

Drax Project, who are known for their high-energy performance, have brought their soaring vocals and unique sound to recreate Jackie Wilson’s feel-good hit ‘Higher and Higher’.

The campaign celebrates reconnection after a challenging year for both the music and aviation industry say Drax Project; "We've always flown with Air New Zealand whenever we can, so it was an honour to be invited to help them relaunch. It hasn't been an easy time for either travel or music lately, so we’re stoked to be part of such an uplifting campaign".

Air New Zealand General Manager Brand and Marketing Jeremy O’Brien says, “We’re really proud to partner with Drax Project - we wanted to use an authentically Kiwi sound to lift our story.”

Creating international hits is nothing new for the band as just last week they celebrated their single ‘Catching Feelings’ ft. SIX60 surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify alone.

The partnership kicks off a busy winter for Drax Project who are co-headlining a regional tour across Aotearoa alongside singer-songwriter Mitch James and pop newcomer AACACIA. Their Auckland and Wellington shows were immediate sell-outs with a limited number of tickets left for the second Wellington show, Hamilton and Dunedin.

Drax Project have come a long way since busking on the streets of Wellington in 2013. Mixing pop, R&B and Jazz sounds, the five-time Aotearoa Music Award winners have supported the likes of Lorde, Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, SIX60, and Christina Aguilera, winning over audiences worldwide with their catchy tunes and laid-back vibes.

In 2019 the multi-platinum group released their self-titled debut album, which to date has collected over 300 million streams and gained 18 Platinum certifications. Their hit single Woke Up Late with Hailee Steinfeld, which peaked at No. 1 in New Zealand, has collected over 118 million streams on Spotify, and 22 million views on YouTube. Kicking off 2021 by joining SIX60 for their SATURDAYS tour - the boys had audiences singing at the tops of their lungs for smash hits such as Over It, Firefly (feat. Fetty WAP & AACACIA) and Catching Feelings (feat. SIX60), establishing them as a must-see live act.
