Lake South has released the first single 'South Coast' from his forthcoming album 'Wellington | Te Upoko O Te Ika'.
Lake describes the song as "sincere synth-pop for the sentimental". The stripped back track features the sublime vocals of Grawlixes' Penelope Esplin and was engineered and produced by Lake himself.
'South Coast', like all the songs on the album, is named for a certain place of significance for Lake. 'Wellington' is an album about one person's interpretation of place and the Lake South team have created a web app to allow people to listen to the songs in the places they sing about. If you are within 500 metres of a particular location an audio player will become visible and you'll be able to listen to the corresponding track. Each song on the album will also have its own postcard. All eleven postcards will be available as a set when the album drops in August 2019.
