'My Name Is Moana' - Extensive NZ Tour by Moana Maniapoto and Trio

'My Name Is Moana' - Extensive NZ Tour by Moana Maniapoto and Trio

Moana Maniapoto received the coveted 'Classic Album' prize at the Taite Awards last month (for 'TAHI' by Moana and the Moa Hunters). This adds another credit to her long list of acheivements, which include being an Arts Laureate, named inductee into the NZ Music Hall of Fame and 2019 Distinguished Alumni (University of Auckland).

Now she's taking a small group on tour and visiting many of towns throughout New Zealand so wherever you are located, there's a good chance she's playing nearby!

Among her touring group are: her sister, Trina; eletronic wizard Paddy Free (Pitch Black) and guitarist Cadzow Cossar.

Her latest show examines the link we have as New Zealanders to the sea - hence the title My Name Is Moana. It is more than just a musical performance, since the 90 minute show also brings in personal anecdotes and mythological story-telling to bring the subject matter to life. There will be everything from sing-a-long classics to more uplifting, inspirational numbers.

This show is part of the Arts On Tour NZ series, which Maniapoto also took part in during 2017. One review at that time said of her performance in New Plymouth: “Superb artistic quality – wonderful stories, laugh out loud humour and the music was beautiful.”

Her new show is sure to be equally captivating, so check out the full show details below and make sure you don't miss out!
