It looks like another busy week for live shows, with a spread of punk, country, indie, and hip hop to check out.
There's a special set of shows organised by Tom Scott's new label, Years Gone By (in association with Red Bull). This pulls together musicians from across generations: psychedelic soul-singer Troy Kingi and his nephew Rawiri Webb; music producer Soraya LaPread with her father, legendary former Commodore’s bassist Ronald LaPread (with full backing band); drummer-extraordinaire Julien Dyne and his double bassist father Paul Dyne. Tom Scott will also be making a cameo alongside his pops Peter to cap off a unmissable show of talent old and new. The shows are taking place at a secret location in Auckland and at Meow in Wellington.
If you'd prefer something heavier, then legendary punk group Proud Scum are playing in Wellington (for the first time) and in Auckland (alongside a raft of other 70s/80s acts like The Spelling Mistakes, The Terrorways, Newmatics).
Whereas lovers of straight up-and-down rock'n'roll might prefer to check out Auckland rock-pop crew Kingsland who are jumping in the van with Christchurch garage rockers Egovalve for a four-date national tour.
Millie Lovelock (Astro Children) is also on tour under her solo guise - Repulsive Woman - bringing her striking indie tunes to Wellington and Dunedin.
Plus there's a bunch of other acts also out on the road: country duo Delaney Davidson and Barry Saunders (The Warrahtahs); 80s funk group Ardijah, classic rock act The Jordan Luck Band, groovy unit Sonic Delusion, and two-piece rockers Skinny Hobos.
We've put together a Spotify playlist so you can check out these different artists and see which ones appeal.
