Co-written by acclaimed producer Harry Charles, the shimmering pop track explores the raw, unspoken ache of unrequited love.
Ahead of the release, Emerson will hit the road this May, joining Frankie Venter’s Like It Like That Tour across Raglan, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, and Auckland — celebrating her 18th birthday on the very first night of the tour.
'Tip of My Tongue', made possible with support from a New Zealand On Air New Music Single grant, will be followed by a music video directed by Tom Grut shortly after its release.
'Tip of My Tongue' captures the raw, unspoken ache of unrequited love with a confessional honesty wrapped in lush, shimmering production. The track explores the painful tension between love and silence, and the cost of unspoken feelings - pre-save here.
Built around vivid, emotionally-charged lyrics like "sew my mouth shut just so I don't shout your name" and "would you notice my scars?", Emerson captures the raw ache of loving someone from afar. The haunting vocal performance, layered over expansive instrumentation and thoughtful production, invites listeners into a world of longing, vulnerability, and quiet strength.
'Tip of My Tongue' showcases Emerson’s gift for storytelling through music, blending intimate lyricism with a cinematic soundscape. It’s a song for anyone who’s ever loved too deeply to let go—and stayed silent because it hurt too much to speak.

Winner of the 2024 Smokefree Rockquest Solo-Duo category, Emerson has quickly launched herself into the upper ranks of New Zealand’s rising pop artists. Growing up onstage as a musical theatre kid and competitive dancer, she brings powerhouse energy to every performance.
Since 2022, she has honed her skills across successful local indie bands as bassist, backup singer, rhythm guitarist, and lead singer-songwriter. Emerson debuted her live act in 2024, opening for Bella Rafflyn at The Tuning Fork to a near sellout crowd, later playing the Flying Out stage at The Other’s Way Festival and opening for Will Swinton at The Double Whammy. Her first-ever headline show at The Tuning Fork in March 2025 was a smashing success.
Her first release of 2025, 'You Really Must Hate Me!'—co-written and produced by Harry Charles—garnered over 75,000 Spotify streams and landed on four major international Spotify Editorial playlists, including hits different, Pop n’ Fresh, Fresh Finds Pop, and New Music Friday Denmark.
A sought-after songwriter, Emerson has also collaborated with local artists including Frankie Venter ('I Like It Like That'), Teo Glacier, Keenan Te, Macey, Rosetta, and Lucy Gray.
