Alt-pop artist and producer Keeley Shade returns on May 16 with her new single ‘Anymore’— a lush, cathartic anthem that transforms raw introspection into cinematic, emotionally charged pop. The track is the lead single from her upcoming self-produced EP of the same name, following early June.
Set for release May 16, ‘Anymore’ is both solemn and vibrantly energetic, weaving band-driven instrumentation with lush, unpredictable pop production. It directly challenges and flirts with the memory of someone, in a cathartic reclaiming of one’s sense of self. Shade’s signature intimate and dulcet vocals take on new power, soaring through high notes, shouting gang vocals, and belting moments that mark a braver evolution in her sound. A shuffling instrumental bridge leads into a confident, chant-worthy chorus, making it a standout moment in Shade’s discography.
The four-track EP was crafted over the past year and a half in Shade’s home studio, with additional tracking at Joel Little’s BIG FAN studios, where she is currently an intern. Impressively, Shade took full creative control, handling both production and mixing. Passionate about increasing female representation in music production (where women make up just 6% of producers and even fewer engineers), Shade is demonstrating her growing command of both the technical and creative aspects of music-making. With a background in video and photography editing, delving into the intricacies of music production felt like a natural next step.
A music video, funded by fans through Give a Little and choreographed by Oli Mathiesen, will be dropping with the single.
This release positions Keeley as a rising force in the New Zealand music scene, not just as an artist but as a self-sufficient creative powerhouse.
