Almost 40 years after release, Sir Dave Dobbyn returns with a new recording of his enduring classic, ‘Slice of Heaven (Paradise Version)’ on May 2.
Written in 1986 the song has become the ‘unofficial New Zealand national anthem’, dominating airwaves, featuring in the singles charts and events up and down the country and covered by numerous artists, most recently by Coterie featuring an appearance by Dobbyn.
Following its release, ‘Slice of Heaven’ spent 8 weeks at No.1 on the New Zealand Singles Chart. The song won "Song of the Year” at the 1986 New Zealand Music Awards and was later ranked among New Zealand's top songs of all time.
