Frisson – a sudden emotional reaction to stimulus

Ben Liley is the main force behind the tracks found on Frisson. Starting back as early as 2015 thesesongs slowly came together from hours of listening, playing and writing. Until 2024 when his band In Circles came together. Joined by Scott Brough on drums and percussion, and Wills Van Der Meent on bass. Choosing the trio dynamic intentionally, letting the songs truly speak for themselves. No endless layers of instrumentation to hide behind. A soul on display. After laying dormant for years these tracks finally got new life breathed into them.

It’s hard to categorise this album, it moves across the spectrum of human emotion with each track feeling like a different perspective. Held together by the constant familiarity of Ben’s melodic choices and evocative lyrics.
