Celebrating NZ Music Month - 'Tala-Noa' content from Hiva Folau Vaka released today

Tala-Noa’ was the first waiata/pese created for the Hiva Folau Vaka project. This reflected our Pacific and Aotearoa music communities and the whakapapa between Tangata Whenua and Tagata Samoa.

Honouring the languages of Te Reo Maori and Gagana Samoa, with an incredible  group of songwriters and artists, who became Mana Whenua Samoana: Maisey Rika,  THA FEELSTYLE, Tipene Music, Mo Etc., Kenzie From Welly and Fonoti Pati Umaga. With 10A as producer, Tomi Te Taite as engineer and support from Fa'alogo Vaai, Kurt Komene and the studio team, ‘Tala-Noa’ was written and recorded in 3 days at their beautiful Ahumairangi Studio, Massey University - Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa, Wellington.

This video takes you behind the scenes for the collaboration and experience creating ‘Tala-Noa’ and also the debut live performance at the 2024 Pacific Music Awards.   We also wish to thank everyone involved, our artists, producers, knowledge holders, studio crew and support team. And huge thanks to Robert George, The Raro Dog for his work to film and document the creation of this waiata/pese.

Released today to celebrate the start of NZ Music Month, Te Marama Puoro O Aotearoa.
