Cross-genre band Shivers are announcing they are ready for the next step in their career with the release of their new single, ‘Ready’ out today.
The trio, with lead vocalist Timmy Porter, multi-instrumentalist Adrian Win (Ngāti Hāua, Ngāruahine, Te Ātiawa), and producer/keyboardist Josh Parata (Te Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, Te Rarawa), continues to share heartfelt lyrics blended with soulful grooves bound in genre-bending production.
While signalling Shivers’ eagerness to share the next phase of their musicianship with Aotearoa, lead vocalist Timmy Porter says ‘Ready’ also reflects his own journey of healing and resilience towards mental wellbeing.
“It started when I was recovering from a traumatic brain injury that left me just a bit broken and unable to live the life I once did. But through a lot of support from whānau, friends and Shivers, I was able to get through,” says Porter.
‘Ready’ is the first single from their upcoming EP set for release in late 2026 and was produced by long-time friends and acclaimed Aotearoa artists, Tiki Taane and Lee Prebble. The project continues to reflect the band’s moral compass, using music as a platform to explore both personal growth and wider societal issues.
“Music as an art is a great way to express and acknowledge what is happening in our world and in our communities. If we can share our inner thoughts and connect with others in their interpretations, then we have done our job as artists,” says Win.
Hailing from Te Whanganui-a-Tara, the trio credits the capital’s rich musical legacy as a foundation for their evolving sound.
“The home-grown talent of Fat Freddy’s Drop and Trinity Roots really altered the landscape of Aotearoa music,” says Parata. “We want to build our own space within that for music fans and the socially conscious to feel that same sense of belonging.”
Producer Tiki Taane says the release is a testament to Shivers’ individual and collective musicianship.
“Recording ‘Ready’ was an absolute joy. The vibe in the room with Shivers and Dr Lee Prebble was something special, and having the space to capture it live and naturally made the whole experience unforgettable,” says Taane. “This has been one of my favourite projects to mix and produce.”
For Porter, he is excited to show everyone that personally, he is also ready.
“I never thought I’d be able to re-emerge into the world. ‘Ready’ is me saying I am back and ready to live my life again.”
‘Ready’ is made with the support of NZ On Air and is available now on all streaming platforms.
